A Weekend Escape: Fritton Lake, Norfolk

A Weekend Escape: Fritton Lake, Norfolk

Every now and then, we all need a change of scenery – a space to unwind, recharge, and find fresh inspiration.

Last weekend, I swapped interiors for the great outdoors with a trip to the stunning Fritton Lake in Norfolk. It turned out to be the perfect balance of nature, wellness, inspirational interior design and a little bit of fun!

Nestled within the private 1,000-acre Somerleyton Estate, Fritton Lake is more than just a lake – it’s a lifestyle retreat. Surrounded by wild meadows, ancient woodland, and beautifully designed eco-cabins, it’s a place that reflects everything I love about thoughtful design, and the beautiful English countryside.

Fritton Lake has a little bit of everything.

Our days were full but relaxed – just how a weekend should be.

We swam lengths in the pool for our body and went wild swimming in the lake for our soul! (If you’ve never swum in open water before, Fritton Lake is the ideal place to start.)

To warm up afterwards, we made a beeline into the floating sauna overlooking the water. The view on to the lake was exquisite: peaceful and serene.

Bliss!

In the evenings, we kept things low-key and cosy with an evening stroll around the grounds, some pool in the Games Room, with after dinner drinks and some good conversation in The Snug.

If you’re looking for a peaceful escape with a touch of luxury and a love of quintessentially English design (with a quirky twist!), I highly recommend Fritton Lake.
