Recently, I was fortunate enough to attend an after-hours drinks’ evening at the Wallace Collection in London, celebrating this wonderful exhibition.
Grayson Perry: Delusions of Grandeur
At The Wallace Collection, Manchester Square, London, W1
This fabulous show, running from March 28 to October 26, 2025, is the museum’s largest contemporary exhibition to date, featuring over 40 new works by Sir Grayson Perry.
The evening began with a very welcome glass of bubbly in the museum’s elegant courtyard, followed by a leisurely stroll through the show itself – bubbles in hand!
The exhibition is a jolly jape – it includes ceramics, tapestries, furniture, wallpaper and even some very unusual AI-generated images – many inspired by the Wallace Collection’s in-house historic masterpieces.
With his cheeky irreverence to all things “established”, Grayson Perry explores themes of authenticity, identity, the English class system and prejudice, as well as the nature of artistic creation itself.
Quite a heady mix!
I have to say the show was utterly fabulous: laugh-out-loud funny, naughty, witty, clever (very!), all in all utterly brilliant.
Well worth a visit!
Here are a few sneak preview photos.
P.S. I think the pink wallpaper would look great in a ladies’ powder-room!
